This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

BEWARE! HUNGER THROUGH THESE DOORS: Attempting to FEED inquiring scientific minds through design!

I have been fortunate to attend an institute sponsored by STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). At this institute, I was trained on and received a Materials World Module Kit: Food Packaging. This kit will expose my students to "inquiry through design". This kit uses abstract, quantitative, and concrete methods of scientific inquiry along with technological design to develop science, technology, engineering and math minded students. This kit requires the purchase of a variety of different food and packaging items. My students and I are unable to purchase everything needed to "feed" our minds.

I need a variety of food items as well as different materials that can be used for food packaging. This project will benefit my students by helping them to develop researchable questions to guide scientific investigations, design and conduct scientific investigations using appropriate tools and mathematics analysis, and create a prototype and develop appropriate testing procedures following rules of logic and evidence. Also, students will be able to evaluate tests, redesign prototypes, and identify constraints in designs and testing procedures.

Your help will ensure that my students gain a better understanding of scientific inquiry through design with a fun, hands-on investigative kit which can spark more interest in science, technology, engineering and math. Who knows..we might inspire the next Nobel Peace Prize winner!
