Ladybugs Fly At Eastway

My students need 7 copies each of four different ladybug books and live ladybugs.

Our children come from low income households. Half of our children are Hispanic and English as a Second Language learners.

As part of our science curriculum, our second graders study life cycles. While our children are provided with the opportunity to observe the life cycle of butterflies, their knowledge of ladybugs is in books alone. Therefore we would like to provide our children with an opportunity to observe ladybugs firsthand.

Through this project, children will be able to observe and record the life cycle of ladybugs as part of their science curriculum. We will also integrate ladybugs into our literacy block by reading ladybug themed books and writing ladybug stories.

Our children are lacking life experiences that other children take for granted. It is my hope that through this project we can provide them with a life experience that they would not have otherwise.
