I teach in a Junior High science classroom with 8th grade students. The school has a low socioeconomic status. Funding for materials is an issue with my school.

I have conducted the labs and experiments with my students each year. We have to be in large groups and the students don't get the full enjoyment and learning experience out of the lab.

I need 10 digital balance scales to measure the mass of materials used in the lab, such as converting ingredients in a recipe to the metric units. I also need more stop watches to aid the students in testing the speed of their model cars and the flight time of their highly designed airplanes.

By funding my request, students will be in small group settings that will allow for full participation in the lab or experiment being conducted. Each set of materials selected provides a more conducive learning environment for all students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
