Help promote the careers of future news reporters by funding our project!! As the reading teacher at a large urban school, I am constantly looking for new ways to promote reading and writing. While I come up with some great ideas that excite the students, it is often difficult to see these projects through due to lack of funds. Currently, I am working with a group of students that desperately want to create a monthly school newsletter for their school community. In order to do this we will need enough ink for our printers and paper for the newsletters. If you could see it within your heart to help fund this project you will be helping my students by promoting reading and writing skills. For this newsletter, students will be required to research what goes into a quality newsletter, learn how to create a newsletter using a publisher program, and also learn how to work cooperatively with a team of students. This project will be great for students to reinforce the reading and writing skills that they learn in class since they will be doing all of the writing for the newsletter themselves. Once the articles are written, we will have a group that will read and edit the articles before going to press. Just think how your donation to this project will help foster a sense of community in our school! The students will work on academic skills along with social and emotional skills. Your donation could aspire one or more students into going to college to further their education to become a journalism major.
