Growing Healthy Young Sprouts- Kemper School Garden Project

We are a rural, multicultural school in an agricultural community in southwest Colorado.

Our students live in a rural area but many of the students come from impoverished environments where healthy food and nutrition are not a high priority. We would like to create a learning garden plot where students can learn how to grow and enjoy healthy fruits and vegetables.

We need the tools necessary to create a healthy garden plot. Students will learn to work the soil, plant, tend the garden and harvest the fruits of their labor! We will feature some of our produce in our school lunch program as "the healthy veggie of the day!" We have a broad base of community support for our project but need the tools to make the project take flight.

You will make it possible for my students to experience first hand the joys of gardening and the fruits of their labor. You will reach a group of students who yearn to be in touch with the land. Your support will reach a diverse group of kids including our many Native American and Latino students, who often live in impoverished homes. Thank you for your support.
