I am a fourth grade teacher. Our school is in a poverty area. Fourth graders are very active and in need of guidance. Giving these students something to learn, something to take care of, and something positive to do with their time opens so many possibilities for them. To become active in school (other than sports), would be a deterrent from the streets. Music is not only a creative outlet but a chance for these students to really belong and be a part of the school especially, for those that live far away. The opportunity to perform to an audience will truly give them a sense of accomplishment and pride. Hopefully instill a life long love of learning music.

Sad to say but the obstacle is MONEY! That is one thing not only our school system has little of but also our parents. I have students that love music, especially boys that are drumming in class. Not only is this something for them to learn in music other than songs but, they are physically being a part of the music. They can hear it, make it, feel it, and enjoy it.

Our music teacher has joyfully agreed to teach the students during their music class. We are in need of a recorder for each student and a book for the teacher. These supplies will help our students get started and hopefully enrich their lives.

Your donation will bring pride not only to our school but, to our students/families as well.
