My students need 8 materials such as a Dinosaurs Discovery Kit, dinosaur puzzles, and dinosaur egg puppets to participate in our dinosaur theme.

I teach kindergarten in an inner-city school of approximately 1,200 students. Most of the students receive free lunch. This is a high-need community with a diverse student population. At this time, I am currently teaching kindergarten in my second school this year. Due to budget cuts classes were condensed and unfortunately, I had to switch schools. Many of my supplies went missing.

At this time, resources are scarce. School expenditures have been cut dramatically and teachers are left on their own to find funding. This is where a wonderful donor comes in to help my enthusiastic class. We are concentrating on dinosaurs throughout our kindergarten year and the students are very excited. However, we do not have any of the great puzzles and puppets that are out there. The students would love to play with the dinosaur puzzles that they have been studying. Since my boys outnumber my girls in the classroom dinosaurs are very interesting to them. Their eyes light up whenever we read a new dinosaur story.

If we had some puppets the children can retell the stories after we have read them. Puzzles are an activity the children can complete alone or collaboratively. Once we have read our story they can draw pictures on their new oak tag. The oak tag is more beneficial to the students because their stories can be turned into a book due to the quality of the paper. These resources will enable the students to become immersed in our dinosaur theme. They can retell the story with a puppet, write about the dinosaur and then read it on their own once it is turned into a big book.

This project is extremely important to my students because they all truly enjoy learning about dinosaurs. Supporting this project enables them to become immersed throughout the day using many hands-on activities. Children learn through play and these resources will allow all of my students to participate in activities. Thank you for taking the time to read through the proposal.
