The Gift of Voice: Communication and Autism

My students need two Go Talk communication boards.

I teach in a high school autism class in a high need community. Currently, there are five students in my class and two of them have significant communication deficiencies.

The goal of our program is to include the students in academic and extracurricular activities with their peers in the general education classes. The communication barrier between the students with autism and the general education students is prohibiting them to get the high school experience they want and deserve.

Go Talk is an augmentative communication device that takes a pre recorded voice and plays it with the push of a picture button. The students have been studying these pictures and are ready to have their voices heard! When interacting with their peers in school and extracurricular activities, the students will be able to speak their mind with a push of the button!
