Entering my third year teaching- I have also transferred schools. Adapting to a middle school has been interesting enough- but the lack of resources at the school is unbelievable. My classes range from ELL students that barely speak English to students that are so different I have to struggle constantly to differentiate groups and instruction. NY has an extreme influx of residents and in order to create continuity across my students' background I want to approach math in a way that is creative and inviting.

I am using an overhead projector that is at best archaic! An LCD projector would assist me in implementing technology into my classroom as well as using that technology to captivate my students. I have found numerous websites full of activities and animation. These would be beneficial to students who struggle to visualize certain concepts in the ever-hated subject of math!

I could use this technology daily in all of my classes and even share with other members of the faculty. It could service close to 200 students DAILY! I also plan on using this projector during our specialized extended-day program. Normally, this program is used to supplement the education of students who are faltering. In a less regimented after school program I could expand the math to convey the constant use of math in our everyday lives; using real-life experiments. I could also continue to delve into the minds of my students by dissecting harder word problems step by step and insisting on higher order learning.

You will make it possible for seventh graders who hate math and have never understood it to potentially enjoy it and definitely comprehend it!
