Add A New Guitarist To Our Jazz Orchestra II

My jazz students need an electric guitar.

I teach in a remarkably successful public high school in the central Bronx, serving mostly low-income students from all over the borough. During tryouts for the first year of Bronx Lab's band program, there was an enormous interest expressed in playing the electric guitar as part of the rhythm section of our Duke Ellington/Count Basie style big band.

Unfortunately, with only two guitars sitting in the classroom, the majority of students were left disappointed. We really need to have more guitars and more guitarists to have a proper rhythm section in both our Beginner and Advanced Jazz Orchestra and get more students involved in this fantastic musical experience.

With one more high quality electric guitar, the two students who were ultimately chosen to play the guitar in band can be joined by an additional guitar student to practice and develop their considerable, but, at the moment, raw talent.

Your support will help keep all of my aspiring guitarists motivated and working hard. Programs like my band program not only have artistic value in and of themselves, but also help to motivate students to stay in school and view their entire school experience positively. By generously helping to fund this project, you are helping to make sure that a very deserving, but heretofore under-served student will not only stay in school, but also excel at music.
