Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our classroom library is in desperate need of some nonfiction trade books to inspire budding second grade scientists. Hi! I am a second grade teacher in a low socio-economic community.

Second graders are full of curiosity and eager to learn about the world around them. However, our science and social studies texts are often too challenging for some of my students, especially my English language learners. These students need lots of illustrations and easier text in order to develop the vocabulary necessary for understanding.

Gail Gibbons is a fabulous author of nonfiction. Her ability to relate material to students in an engaging and informative format make her one of my favorite authors. I would like to expand our classroom library to include 25 nonfiction titles by Gail Gibbons. My students would greatly benefit from the addition of these trade books to our library.

With your generous donation, all of my students would be afforded the opportunity to read and learn about the world around them. My English language learners would be able to further the development of their content related vocabulary. Your gift would not only benefit this year's students but future "scientists" for years to come.
