Real Scientists Wear Lab Coats

My students need 30 lab coats to experience what it feels like being a real scientist. Our fifth grade this year is required to teach science 3-4 times a week using a brand new program called FOSS. All investigations are hands-on. So far, students love it! I think it would make learning science more fun if students felt like scientists while investigating.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am currently teaching a CTT (collaborative team teaching) class. This class includes 1 general ed teacher and 1 special ed teacher. There are about 10 Special Education students and 15 General Education Students. We are also a Title 1 school with limited supplies.

This year we are required to teach science 3-4 times a week using a new program called FOSS. All investigations are hands-on.

The kits come with most of the supplies, however, I thought it would make our lessons more interesting to the students if they were wearing lab coats, to feel more like a scientist.

With your help, our students will be able to feel more like a scientist. And therefore, they will become more involved, especially those students with learning disabilities.
