Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our elementary school is located in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation. Our students and their parents face life challenges that no one on earth should ever have to go through. We are trying to make our counseling office as comfortable and welcoming as possible so our parents and their children can feel that this is a safe haven.

Currently, our counseling office resembles a classroom environment. Due to budget cuts and no money being allocated to the counselors, we cannot make our office into an atmosphere that feels less academic and more of a safe haven.

To achieve this goal, we would like to outfit it with a sofa and bean bag chairs. When parents and their children come in and sit down, they will hopefully feel that our office is a sanctuary from their daily stressors and we in turn will be better suited to help them.

Please help us make this vision come true. Our students and parents will truly benefit from your unconditional kindness.
