Let's use technology to learn writing skills by connecting home and school in an exciting and innovative way!!! I am an ESOL teacher who serves K5 through 5th grade students in a high poverty school. I currently teach reading and writing to 65 students at this school.

One of the most important goals of my program is to increase the writing abilities of all of my students. This proposed project will definitely accelerate my students' interest in learning invaluable writing skills!

These cameras and cases will allow all of my students to take the camera home, take pictures of their family, and download the pictures the very next day at school. The students would then write about their families, experiences, or cultures on a template that I have already created; this template provides both a space for the picture(s) and a space for writing. Not only will this project help to increase the writing skills of my students, but it will also foster a general motivation for writing as it is a FUN activity!

With your help and generosity, this project will allow my students to increase their writing abilities in a very innovative way! In addition, the project will foster positive self-esteem by affirming the home cultures of students, and it will provide necessary learning experiences with technology. The camera will later be used for other classroom activities that include, but are not limited to, writing!
