This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a special education teacher in an urban district. My classroom is a self contained 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade multiple disabilities room. Our school is in a high-need community.

Due to federal law my students are required to participate in the state wide assessments. Due to my students' disabilities they do not take the standard state wide assessments. Instead they take the Alternative Portfolio Assessment. In order for my students to pass the assessment we need to collect pieces of their work: "evidence" to show the progress they have made over the course of the school year. One major way we show this is by taking pictures of the students. The pictures show the students participating in activities, working on projects or anything else that relates to the objective of the lesson.

Our school has close to 700 students and has a high demand but low quantity (3) of digital cameras. It would be beneficial to have a classroom camera accessible whenever needed to capture pictures of progress instead of having to sign up on a waiting list for a camera.

Your help with this resource would make a great difference in our classroom. Having the digital camera available at our fingertips will make it easier to capture pictures of progress whenever they occur.
