Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Anatomy and Physiology for Juniors and Seniors. Our school is 61% free and reduced lunch population. We have a high ESL population. Many of our students come from single parent/low-income households.

In order for students to apply hands-on experience, specimens are needed. Almost all of my students are trying to enter the medical field. I want the children to have more than a "text-book" experience. The ability to find and identify various parts of the body will present a rich tactile experience for them.

Cats have several morphological similarities to other mammals, including humans. They are a sincerely effective tool for applying knowledge acquired in this class. We need 10 "cat doubles" for our Anatomy and Physiology labs.

Your help will ensure that these students take the knowledge in this class very seriously. Please keep in mind that these students are in a very economically depressed region of North Carolina. There is a strong measure of opportunity for students to enter into health care. These will be the students that take care of the people in this community when they are older. I want to give these kids any beneficial support I can provide. I hope you feel the same!
