I am a music teacher that teaches kindergarten through seventh grade at an urban public charter school. I moved here from New Orleans and want to share jazz along with other styles of music with my students. This school year there will be a strings program, a band program, as well as general music.

I don't have any set of curriculum (books) to use to teach from. I would like to be able to allow the students to see pictures of musicians, instruments, as well as pieces of art.I believe if I have more resources to pull from, I will be able to get the students more involved in lessons by creating more connections.

I need the Jazz for Young People Curriculum so that the I will be able to teach more about the students' culture. With this curriculum, I would be able to show pictures of what I am describing. I would be able to make more connections with the students.

Your help will ensure that my students will get to learn about jazz music. They will be able to learn about the history of jazz as well as listen to jazz compositions. They will learn about some of the great jazz musicians.
