Laptop Projector For Multiple Uses For Inner City Classroom
My students need a projector so they can view art historical powerpoint presentations, instructional and tie-in videos, and present their own multimedia projects to the rest of the class and the school at large.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a new career changing art teacher who is trying to make a difference in a high need, inner city middle school in NYC. The school has been reorganized from a troubled school to a charter school with a science focus. I am setting up my projects as "Art Experiments", but I need to give the students a visual base of reference for the projects I want to do.
The middle school has never had an art program, so the students have had no exposure to basic art techniques, or art history. The new principal is adamant about having an art program even though it's a science based curriculum, because he feels that the arts can positively augment a science program. Both processes involve creative problem solving, and students need the creative outlet to understand many of the life issues they go through in a difficult neighborhood. An art room projector would give the program the flexibility to present the teacher's own PowerPoint presentations as well as visiting programs (MET. MOMA, local artists), and the give the students their own opportunity to show presentations of their own making.
This projector allows multiple uses to maximize the art education experience and allow students to really interact with, see, and show art that inspires them.
Your help will help expose young minds to the importance of the arts and the art process to their education and their lives in general.
