"This is the definition of "out-of-date"! I am a 5th grade teacher. We are an urban school and our budget has been hit hard by all that is going on in the city, state, and country. Most of my students are learning English as one of two or more languages spoken at home.
"This is the definition of "out-of-date"! I am a 5th grade teacher. We are an urban school and our budget has been hit hard by all that is going on in the city, state, and country. Most of my students are learning English as one of two or more languages spoken at home.
Dictionary skills are an integral part of our curriculum from writing papers, to reading stories, to learning the parts of the dictionary. Our classroom has a set of 20 dictionaries from 1981. A lot has happened in the last quarter-century and these books are far behind the times.
A class set of 20 new dictionaries will help our 5th graders continue developing the vocabulary and research skills that will help them succeed in our country and our world.
You will help empower these students by giving them a resource that will develop the language skills that they need to be whatever they choose to be in our world of tomorrow.
My students need 20 copies of Webster's Elementary Dictionary.
The cost of this proposal is $418, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."
We are so excited to get to work on vocabulary and dictionary skills with our new dictionaries! This is such an important part of their education. Dictionaries enable students to use information organization skills (alphabetizing, context for appropriate definitions, and more) which they do not get to practice when they look up words on computers. They will carry these skills into other areas of their education as they advance in proficiency and grade level.
Thank you for your generosity and dedication to the education of our nation's children.
Most sincerely yours,
Daniel

"My favorite back-to-school memory is...having to do an oral book report for the very first time. It was so such a scary thought having to stand up in front of my entire classroom and talk about a book I had just read. But it helped me greatly with my public speaking skills."

"I gave to this project because...
there's nothing like having someone give you the first two or three letters of a word and telling you to "go look it up.""

Gabriel Adiv's hairless sacrifice inspired me to. ;) And I wanted to support the children."
