Please help high-risk urban students connect with each other every morning. I am a first grade teacher in a high-need urban charter school. We will use this rug every morning to do our Morning Meeting, which consists of a warm greeting, a message for the day, sharing with classmates and learning to listen and ask intelligent questions after a peer has shared a personal story. They also listen to lessons on the rug. We currently have a square rug that not everyone can fit on, so we have to take turns. A large round rug would be greatly appreciated!

When sitting together in Morning Meeting and during general group lessons. We all have certain days that we get to sit on the rug because we cannot all fit. It makes some children feel left out, but it is the best we can do with the current situation. We would love to be able to all fit and work together on the rug.

We need a round rug that will fit all 16 students comfortably. This way we can learn how to make eye contact and concentrate on a person who is speaking. We can also learn wonderful lessons and create a warm and nurturing environment for these high-need students.

With your generous donation my students will be able to gain skills that they will need throughout life, such as watching a speaker and asking questions. They will all feel empowered by having their peers look at them and address them directly. What an improvement you could make in my classroom!
