Flipping Over Learning

My students need a small easy to use video camera to record learning experiences.

I teach fourth grade in an urban area. We are a high-need community. Our school has a reputation for high achievement levels, but our rapidly changing population is challenging us to find new and innovative ways to reach every child.

Written and oral expression are challenging areas for my students. We have many enriching activities, but the students' enthusiasm often overshadows the potential for learning.

I use my personal digital camera to take pictures which help students review and reflect on their learning. However, the students need an easy to use video camera to create their own recordings and reflections of learning activities.

Your help will enable my students to create their own videos to accompany their learning activities. Students will be motivated to write stories when they know they will be able to record themselves reading the story. Oral expression and effective presentation skills will be emphasized in creating video reviews of books read, science and math explorations and discoveries, and recreations of historical events.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
