Scrabble Mania!!!

My students need 10 Scrabble games so that they can practice using and spelling vocabulary words in a fun but educational manner.

I teach in a racially diverse high school with about 60% of our students qualifying for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. I teach Advanced Placement English and have wonderful students who desperately need to expand their vocabularies in order to do well on standardized testing - and life too!

My students are masters of texting and Instant Messaging but are woefully pitiful at correctly spelling words other than "cool" which they sometimes spell as "kewl." Also, other than exciting teen words like "tight" and "crunk" they have fairly limited vocabularies.

Scrabble will save my students from a life in which they truly believe that "awesomest" is an actual word. The game of Scrabble will get my kids to actually open and use dictionaries. Also, Scrabble will incite their competitive natures to use words more complex that "good" in order to win lots of points.

Please save society from a poorly spelled future! You can make a difference by helping my kids tap into their unknown desire to use big words and to spell them correctly!
