Teaching All Students Skills to be Successful!

My students need these text so I can teach them the habits that will allow them to become productive, efficient, and ethical members of the workforce and society.

Very simply put, I want my students to be successful in not only school but in life. I teach business in rural Kentucky. The students who come into my classes are grades 9-12, but I do have more freshmen than other students. I am a totally elective area, so students CHOOSE to come to my classes. I teach students, but the classes I teach are: Accounting, E-commerce, Banking, Business Law and Computer Applications.

My students face the simple obstacle of nobody told them they could succeed and if someone did, nobody showed them how to do it. This is a rural area and parents want their students to do better and be more successful than they are, but they look to the school to teach the kids how to accomplish being more successful. Since I have a majority of freshmen, I want to start there and not only teach them content area, I want to teach them the skills and habits that will help them to be more successful in school and long after their school careers.

I have chosen some books that I have read and feel that if I have my students read them and teach parts of them to my students in addition to the prescribed curriculum, I can make a difference in their lives by arming them with both an academic skill (business, and financial know how) AND life skills of successful habits, and being successful in all they undertake.

Your donations will make it possible for these students to learn the skills necessary to both be successful in their personal, financial, and career lives. I do not want another group of students to leave my class saying nobody told me I could be successful and nobody showed me how to do it! It was Jesus who said it best "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime!" Thank you for helping me feed the multitudes!
