The drama program at the high school where I work was non-existent until this year, when the chorus teacher and I renewed it for the first time in nearly a decade. The students who auditioned, rehearsed, and put on the first musical were the most hard-working, compassionate team of teenagers I have EVER been fortunate enough to work with. They designed the sets, painted, made props, even taught themselves how to sew! They trusted in me and the chorus teacher, they supported each other through difficult rehearsals, and they put on a killer performance of "Little Shop of Horrors" with limited resources, a tiny budget, and a LOT of laughter. I want to give them a fantastic experience as we go into year two of Theater Production!
My Project
This upcoming school year (2016-2017) is only the second year that our high school will have had a drama program for quite some time. Donations to our project will help in providing needed costume, prop, and setting materials that students will work with hands-on to create the atmosphere/character realization of our fall play and spring musical.
My students are so excited to begin working on our play, "Arsenic and Old Lace" and our spring musical "The Little Mermaid!" Since there is so much we are trying to procure, every donation towards purchasing the smaller items, that tend to nickel-and-dime a small program, is so greatly appreciated by myself and my students!
