I teach in an elementary school that is predominantly comprised of at-risk kids including many who do not speak English as a first language.

Rhythm is one of the basic elements of music and one way for all children to succeed on the same level, regardless of economics, gender, race or language.

This school had a great stock of rhythm instruments about fifteen years ago, but through many years of use, most of these instruments are broken, missing pieces, or otherwise unpleasant to play. Not only should this be an educational experience, but a fun and exciting experience and that is difficult with broken tools. This proposal will refresh our stock of rhythm instruments.

You can give these kids an opportunity to experience music with the same resources as schools that have more funding available. You can provide an opportunity for success for all, not just a few.
