Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I'm a 7th grade special needs teacher. My students abilities and disabilities range greatly.

Many of my students have reading disabilities. I'm trying to get them involed in story telling with these books. I know that if they start story telling they'll be inspired to learn how to read. Most of them have given up. I know I can hook them and teach them how to read. They all have stories to tell.

Joe Hayes' books, "Watch Out for Clever Women!", and "The Day It Snowed Tortillas" will motivate them to share there own stories. We are going to read them and retell them in our own words. I'm also going to teach them to tell the stories of their lives. The final project will be a classroom book of short stories about my students' lives.

I know your help will inspire my students. The will learn how to read and express themselves with my story telling project.
