Do the second graders you know boogie when it is time to read? I teach second grade in an inner city high-needs school where about 90% of the students receive free lunch and textbooks. I love to provide them with wonderful literature that will make them boogie!!!

Electric Slide, Swing, Soulja Boy, or Boogie? Have you ever seen a student do one of these dances when a teacher has said "Let's read!"? I would love to see my students do these dances and more when they have the chance to read one of the big books that I am asking for in my proposal. I have a few big books that were provided with the textbook adoption, but I would love to provide my students with more great literature. We also have no storage for the big books, so right now, they are propped against a wall.

My proposal needs a set of 6 big books and a display easel. This project will help excite my students to dance to our reading area by providing literature that they will want to read and share. This project will also allow us to store our books so that they don't get damaged easily. My students will learn responsibility by having a place to store the books at clean-up time rather than throw the books in the corner. With the quality of the literature, I know that my students will read the books over and over again!

Please help my students boogie, mash potato, or pony to new literature in the classroom. I know that it will improve their love of reading!
