Many students in my classroom are pursuing degrees in music after high school, and many are looking into music technology. I teach music in grades 9-12, and one college prep class is the Music Theory and Technology class, where students learn university level theory and current trends of music technology

We do a lot with what we have, but there is not enough money available to purchase all equipment and supplies necessary to fulfill the curriculum. In order to expose the students to a current trend of music technology, the Music Theory and Technology class produces a podcast featuring student songwriters and composers.

To help fulfill this curricular goal, I am requesting two USB microphones that are commonly used for podcasting. This will benefit the students by allowing them to create a professional quality podcast for the student body and the rest of the community can be proud of.

In order to compete in today's world, technology education is very important. For those students who will be pursuing careers in music need to be prepared to use technology on a daily basis. This request is one way to help students be prepared for the future.
