I am a first-year teacher at a Title 1 (low-income) school in Louisiana. I am currently teaching academically Gifted English Language Arts and Math to students ranging from 2nd to 5th grade. Although my students are very diverse, they all have one thing in common; they are readers beginning to find the joy in reading. I want my kids to continue their emerging joy of reading by creating a comfortable, inviting reading center in my classroom. I want to help them create lasting positive memories of books and reading that will last a lifetime... and encourage them to choose reading over television! I make a concerted effort to create a soothing atmosphere in my classroom every day, but I want to take it a step further and create a cozy reading corner where they can get lost in their books. I would love to have 5 bean bag chairs that are not only comfortable, but easily moved if a student wants to move to a quieter corner of the room. Providing my students with an option other than cold, hard chairs will allow them to truly get lost in a book of their choice! Anything that I can do to help my special students learn to read and enjoy reading is well worth going the extra mile. We are building a foundation for reading at this age, and I want to make sure that it is a strong foundation with happy memories! You can help make my vision possible by purchasing these high-quality bean bag chairs that my wonderful students can enjoy for years to come! I can already picture them curling up with a novel, noses buried in the books, huge smiles on their precious faces.
