My students need four jazz saxophone mouthpieces to enhance the quality of their jazz ensemble experience and promote a deeper level of musicianship.

My jazz students deserve the best equipment for their instruments! I teach 5-8 band, including a concert band, marching band, drumline and jazz band that meets after school. The jazz band consists of the most talented and hard-working students in all of my ensembles. I want to cultivate a deep love for jazz music, a genre that is rarely present on a middle school student's Ipod.

The students in my jazz ensemble are very dedicated and motivated. They deserve to have the best equipment on their instruments. Mouthpieces play a large role in the quality of sound a student is able to produce.

I need four jazz saxophone mouthpieces (Meyer 6M) that will be able to be borrowed by the students in my jazz ensemble during their time in middle school. These mouthpieces will then be returned and used by other students in many years to come. Having the sax players on the same mouthpiece will create unity in the sections' sound. These students currently own average classical mouthpieces. There is a large difference between classical and jazz mouthpieces. Jazz mouthpieces have more power and a deeper tone color. I believe the students would benefit greatly from having the opportunity to practice and perform on these mouthpieces.

It is exciting for me when a student has an "aha!" moment when conquering a new fingering or technique on an instrument. I have no doubt that the students will react in the same manner when presented with new equipment that will better their playing. You will make it possible for my students to experience that "aha!" moment!
