LET'S take education to the next level as we prepare young minds for a world reliant of TECHNOLOGY. Currently, my third grade has no whiteboards, smartboards nor multi media projectors, we use antiquated chalkboards. There is minimal updated technology in the classroom, however, each class has a standard computer. I work in an inner city elementary school and many of the students are high risk and the community is a high need neighborhood plagued with urban decay. My school is a wonderful school filled with caring teachers and administrators that work hard at finding solutions to some of the academic concerns that confront the staff and community.

The third graders that I teach are very interested in lessons that are diverse, unlike the past, where the usage of textbooks and lectures were the only delivery methods of teaching. Students of today are visual learners and education needs to be taken to the next level to motivate and ensure that all learners are engaged. Due to the lack of resources, my students are faced with the obstacle of not having the opportunity to learn through advanced technology.

I know that a multi media projector would be one of the best motivational tools that I could possibly offer my students. Help bring a visual tool that is colorful and supportive to my students. The key to learning is the amount of interaction. Multi media projectors offer diversity in the classroom. While using the multi media projector, I propose to link up to a favorite author's website during reading to connect to the author's life and interests as it may relate to the student's life. In social studies I plan to visually represent the world as my students have never seen before with pictures, maps and U.S. geographical locations. With the elections coming up soon, I would like to display a PowerPoint slide on the election process and hold our own classroom elections. I want my students to be able to hold their own elections, discuss their reasons for what makes them a good candidate and visually use the multi media projector as a communicative tool to announce a candidate for classroom president. In math, we will be able to colorfully display graphs, charts and data sophistication.

The importance of education has always been the one thing that I remind my students of. No matter what someone can take from you physically, education is in the mind and no one can take the knowledge that you have gained away from you. The knowledge that I give my students is the one thing that they will have forever. HELP my students acquire knowledge in the same way as other students across the world. Your help will ensure that all students will receive engaging instruction and your help will also lead to preparing them for a world inundated with advanced technology.
