Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We need your help getting books in children's hands and homes! I am a reading specialist who works with children in grades K-5. The books will be used as awards for children who reach reading goals. They will be able to take them home and keep them forever! We are a small, rural community with a huge number of economically disadvantaged students as well as English language learners.

Many of the children in our school cannot afford to buy books, so for some children, these books are the only ones they will ever be able to call their own!

We need new children's paperback books for grades K-5 to award children who have reached reading goals set. The books are presented to the children by a Prize Patrol and they get to take the book home to keep. They receive a book for each goal level they achieve over the course of the year.

Your help will enable students who may never have the chance to have a book of their own in their home to take one home. Since these books are awards for reading goals, it is also an incentive to get them to read and become more fluent.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
