"I am the Visual Arts teacher within a school that has a large population of under privileged students. We also have a large number of students that are just learning to understand and speak the English language.

My students face great challenges at home. A large majority of the families are barely able to cloth and feed their children, much less buy them drawing books. All my students love to draw, but sometimes get frustrated when they want to draw a certain thing. My students have already proved that they are capable of wonderful things by having their Art work published in a National Art Education Magazine, displayed at a local craft museum and printed on a Saturn car!

Drawing books will help my students to understand how drawings start with basic shapes first and then build on finishing details. These books will enable me to help my Art students with special assignments and projects that their classroom teachers assign, as well as give them a more in depth understanding of how to start a drawing.

Drawing is an activity that can be done at home that requires only paper and a pencil. Hopefully with improved drawing skills, my students will be drawing instead of watching TV, playing video games, or getting into something that might be best for them to stay away from. I encourage all my students to practice drawing to build their skills so that they can feel successful at anything that they might want to draw. Having the skills to be a good drawer will boost their self esteem and give them the motivation to try new endeavors, making them a better student.

So if you would like to invest in a child's education, help us by purchasing these How To Draw books. If you choose us, you can keep up with our progress by looking at the school Art website.

My students need 12 books on their level that teach them how to draw objects that they like, such as cars, monsters, castles, dragons and cartoons.

Ms. L. sent this note after the project was fully funded:

Dec 4, 2008
Dear Jaron and Jim,
What a wonderful surprise when I checked my school e-mail to see that the project that I submitted for the drawing books had been funded. All my art classes love to draw from the How to Draw books, because they can each draw exactly what they want to draw! We are slowly adding to our collection of How to Draw Books and the monster, dragon, Disney, and vehicle books are always the first to be selected by my students.

Thank you so much! The kids are going to be thrilled when they hear the news.

Sincerely,
Phyllis
