The math series that I use in class calls for using dry erase boards. These boards were not included with the math materials. Many lessons have students working with dry erase boards to figure out problems which I have been having them do on paper. This is not only wasting paper, but it is also making some students feel like they cannot make a mistake.
The dry erase boards will help students not only with the math series we are using but will be able to use them in phonics too. A quick erase will help students feel like it is OK to make a mistake and learn from them.
With your help my students can feel more confident in taking risks because they know a mistake can be easily erased with dry erase boards and markers. Thank you for your support and donation.
My students need a class set of 9x12 dry erase boards.
The cost of this proposal is $158, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."

Dear Melissa, Eric, Isaac, cyn, Dana, Josh and Deborah,
Thank you so much for helping my students know that it is OK to make mistakes. These dry erase boards will go to great use daily in our classroom. Not only will we be using them with our math but with our phonics too. Thank you so much for your generosity!
On Feb 3, 2009, Mrs. N. followed this note with student letters sent via mail to the donor who completed this project, and to donors who gave $100 or more.
"I gave to this project because...when I was younger, I was afraid of trying because I didn't want to give a wrong answer. As an adult, I realize that making mistakes is actually the fastest way to learn the right answer. So explore, explore, explore!"
"I gave to this project because...Brian Smith is willing to grow a mustache! And also i was always a big math buff but it's not the easiest of subjects, so i want to help other kids be able to erase those mistakes and start fresh and realize it doesn't matter how long it takes to get it as long as you finally get it!"
