I teach kindergarten in a primary school with a number of under-privileged children. Kindergarten students learn through many domains. One way that children learn is by movement. Many children are not receiving the benefits of being physically active, they prefer to watch TV or play games that require little movement. By choosing songs that would instigate student movement, I would be encouraging my students to use movement and music in a positive way.

Most of my students are not familiar with the technological advances that we have today. I would like to make use of a resource that I have (an iPod) and make it available for my student's use. I would like to use my iPod in different situations in my classroom to promote movement during the day.

Most of my students are not aware of the names of many technological items that are available. I have had students in the past, ask me what a record player or CD player was. By getting an iPod dock and teaching my students about it, I would be able to use songs on my iPod that would be useful in class. Then I would be able to use it to my student's advantage.

Your help with this project will ensure that my students are aware of some of the technology that is available. It will also help them to become more familiar with movement and songs. Hopefully they will be able to take this skill of movement home with them to use in other situations.
