...lost a child? OK, well not really lost, but sent them on an errand that should only take a minute, but winds up taking forever? Hi, I am a teacher in Washington, DC and I sometimes have this problem. I love my students and they are always so ready to help while being easily distracted.

Being young, my students have the tendency to get sidetracked, a lot! I assign a helper for the week to run my errands and it never fails that the child takes forever to run next door or down the hall. What usually happens is that they stop to talk or look at something and they end up being gone longer than planned.

What I need is a two-way radio to solve this problem. I would be able to communicate with my helper to keep them on track and get them back to the classroom in the shortest amount of time possible. In addition, we also need a pack of CDs to record our own books on tape and then a CD player to listen to them on. It helps the students to learn to read fluently when they know they will be listening to their own voices. In addition, it serves as a reward I can use to promote good behavior. I can reward the children by letting them record something in their own voices and then they have the ability to share it with others.
