My 4th grade students are in need of tweezers, 2 electric hot pots, a rock tumbler, pipets, a weather center, and a wetland notebook.

I am a fourth grade teacher in a Title One school. The majority of my students are at or below poverty level.

Science from a textbook...BORING!!! Science should be hands on, not from a text book. Children learn best when they are able to make connections with the material they are learning. Students need to experience science, not just read about it. Students find a sense of wonder when they are personally involved in science.

With this equipment (pipets, tweezers, hot pots, rock tumbler and a weather station) my students will be able to be engaged in learning, actually experimenting with information and not just sitting at a desk listening to lectures. They will actually be involved, testing their idea, testing a new hypothesis, formulating new plans, and actually doing experiments in their own cooperative groups.

You can make a difference in the lives of these children. Who knows maybe the next Albert Einstein is in my class, just waiting to discover science?
