Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher in a community of second language learners. We are a high needs school in a agricultural area.

A majority of our instructional time this year will be on the rug for shared reading, writing and phonics instruction. It is important for students to have instruction at eye-level, in large print, and on easy display. When their work is made public for their peers it makes learning all the more enjoyable and accessible especially for students who are learning English for the first time.

I am requesting a double sided easel with tubs for my students. The easel will be used for shared reading, holding our class poems, organizing our guided reading and phonics materials and, most importantly, displaying student shared writing.

You will make it possible for my students to access poems, stories, and guided writing lessons for many years to come. You will also be helping our class stay organized and have a very functional and accessible book display area for first graders.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
