I have a wonderfully diverse classroom, with students coming from homes speaking five languages other than English (Russian, Somali, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Chinese!). My kindergarteners are excited about learning, especially learning to read. This can be difficult for students who speak another language at home and for students from low-income homes. Many of my students fit these descriptions.

Our district is facing budget cuts in the coming year. I want to continue to provide the best teaching possible. This includes as many opportunities for my students to experience literacy as possible. By providing LeapPad units and books in my classroom, I will give each student the chance to enjoy stories and practice their reading skills at the same time! My Kindergarteners work daily in literacy centers. With the materials I am requesting, I can set up an interactive center that can meet the literacy needs of all the students, from those just learning English to those students who are ready to take off with reading.

My students need 8 Leap Pad interactive learning computers, headphones and books to help us with reading and phonics skills.
