Scientists in need of safety equipment! I am a first year science teacher teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. With proper safety equipment students will be able to perform more hands-on experiments.

In order to perform hands-on science experiments we need proper safety equipment. As of right now we only have 5 pair of safety goggles and no lab aprons. Safety goggles and lab aprons are essential while conducting a lab experiment. With out these essential items we are very constricted in the labs we can perform.

With proper safety equipment students will be able to perform more hands-on and in depth lab experiments. Hands-on labs and activities are extremely beneficially for students. Hands-on labs allow students to connect with the experiment. They are able to remember to the material better when they can actually see what is going on. Hands-on labs allow students to have a sense of accomplishment once the task is complete. They are able to look at the experiment and know that they completed it. Finally, hands-on experiments allow students to transfer the experience to learning situations. When it comes time to assess students, they are able to visualize the experiment and help them with tests or daily work. Having proper safety equipment will benefit students greatly in many aspects.

You will make it possible for my students to become safe scientists. You will ensure that my students can perform hands-on experiments several times a week. With your help we can perform hands-on labs that will allow the students to have a personal connection with the material.
