"I am a fourth grade teacher in Virginia who teaches all core subject areas. My school is in a high-need community, and has a high rate of free and reduced lunch students. The only balanced meals most of my students receive is when they are at school. Many people have been laid off in our community, and my students' families do not have much. Many adults in our community are not high-school graduates, and do not take education seriously. My students need to know that learning can be fun!

We have a wonderful language arts text book, however every story is structured in the same format so the students can get bored easily. We currently do not have a classroom set of any fourth grade novels. Many of the novels we have are too advanced and there are not enough supplies for the entire class.

I am asking for Charlotte's Web materials because this book is such a wonderful classic! There are MANY fun and interactive activities that can be incorporated in the classroom that will provide a fun and meaningful literature experience for my students. Some of the activities I plan to do are: comparing and contrasting the book to the movie, pig poetry, and designing book covers that summarize learning experiences during Charlotte's Web!

Your donation toward this project will ensure that my students understand how important literature is in our lives. It will help bring an important learning experience into the lives of many underprivileged children.

My students need 20 copies of Charlotte's Web, 1 Charlotte's Web audio book, a Charlotte's Web homework pack set, and the Charlotte's Web teacher's guide. The cost of this proposal is $302, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."
