My students need a story telling felt board, popular hands-on story kits for the board, and a wipe board easel to retell the stories with pictures as a class.

I want to make kids learn while they GIGGLE! It is my goal to make my students first year of school a place where they love to visit everyday and where they learn valuable lessons while they think they are playing. I want to provide my students the opportunity to hear and see popular stories such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear...on a flannel storytelling board. I would use this daily as a part of our morning activities. This is a great tool for for students to hear classic stories and retell them over and over. This board will teach students key elements such as setting, characters,retelling, and story comprehension. After the stories, I would like to use the write on easels a center where students retell their favorite story with pictures or words. At this time, I do not have a flannel board, write on easel or any story sets to use in my classroom.

As a kindergarten teacher, I love to make hands on books and activities for my non- readers. As they are learning to read and sort out words,it is so important for them to get a sense of story and to visualize stories and words in motion. This is why I feel these items will be tools I use each day to foster learning in my classroom.

I know this flannelboard center and wipe board easel will spark an interest in reading my kindergarteners. By participating in these hands on activities,the students will be able to retell stories as well as be encouraged to read.

I am asking for a flannel board, story sets, and a write on easel for retelling stories. It is necessary for 5 year olds to connect with many texts and a hands-on approach of learning. With your help, I can provide children with the joy of storytelling. :)
