My students need a DVD player and one copy of the National Treasure DVD, mystery books, critical thinking software, 3 science games, warm up exercises, and a magnetic game board for science.

My class needs a variety of educational manipulatives and media to enhance the development of all types of learners in order to accommodate the needs of a diverse society of learners as I struggle to differentiate my curriculum. I teach a heterogeneous group of sixth grade public school students with a very diverse population, both in cultural backgrounds and learning styles. We are beginning to encounter more low socio-economic families as we have seen a shift in economics in our community. Times are changing and parents are struggling to provide educational supplies for their students, giving the responsibility to both the school and teacher. I have been trying to come up with higher standards to encourage both participation and higher order thinking in my classroom. I am also experiencing difficulty getting center materials for my divergent thinkers.

My students have shown me that they are mature enough to use materials that are available in work stations for early finisher work, and I get no supply money for these articles. In the past, studies have shown that the average and above average students get less teacher time; therefore, having these games will allow them the opportunity to increase their critical thinking through stations that provide a variety of media.

I need a DVD player so that I can show educational videos, like National Treasure for the enhancement of Social Studies. I will use the games to allow free time for my early finishers,and start my lesson in Science with critical thinking questions. The students will also be able to use the Science board on their own, as it is self correcting. As a Nationally certified teacher, I know the importance of enrichment in the diverse classroom.

Your generosity will make it plausible for my students to have better enrichment tools which will enable this diverse group of learners to finally have supplies which nourish their needs for thinking divergently, in both Science and Social Studies.
