I teach a group of first graders that are eager to learn and be loved. Our community is considered high poverty where students are unable to have materials above and beyond what the teacher is able to provide.

As a second year teacher I am still gathering materials and books to enrich the learning of my students. I am requesting books on tape here on DonorsChoose due to lack of funding.

Books on tape are a small, but an essential resource for developing readers. It helps them discover the skills of reading and writing: vocabulary, punctuation, voice, fluency, word play, and much more! By donating this library of books on tape you will give my students a fun way to develop literacy skills.

Having a variety of books on tape can enrich a listening center during reading time. Beginning readers benefit from hearing another person show them what reading looks and sounds like. It would benefit my students to be able to have a variety of listening center books on tape to tie into the daily curriculum.
