New York 4th grade class wants to use technology as a teaching tool and learning experience!

Low income, many single parent households, limited exposure to technology! Many students do not have access to or the ability to use new technology. We are trying to reach every student and their learning style. While many students learn by hearing, there are many that need to see or actually do what is being asked of them to learn. This is an opportunity to reach every learning style!

The lessons available and those that can be created using this LCD projector technology will benefit the students. Students will be exposed to different forms of presentation and have the ability to learn to use the technology to self create. A lesson plan that will be used with the LCD projector is where students self create stories taking pictures, uploading them to power point presentations, writing the story, then using microphones to record their story. The stories are then viewed and listened to by other students using the LCD projector! The students loved the opportunity, the learning experience, and the chance to use technology. Many students are visual learners and using the LCD projector will help when showing material. There are often not enough computers that all students can view material from the internet. The LCD projector will ensure that all students have the opportunity to see and experience the material. There are wonderful video streaming such as from Discovery Education that are wonderful to enhance the learning experience. Imagine if this could be shown in the classroom! These are the types of things that can be done if the LCD projector where available.

The excitement in students eyes and the excitement that they show when they learn new skills especially when technology is a part of the lesson is overwhelming. This is so much more than handing out worksheets. It is an opportunity to reach all students, keeping our students fresh and ready to handle a different form of presentation, and an opportunity for students to really become actively involved with learning. These students only have exposure, for the most part, if the materials are available at school. This project helps more than one class of students, it will help the hundreds and thousands that will pass through our doors for many years to come.
