A Place and a Seat for Everyone!

My students need a rectangular carpet with brightly colored individual squares so that everyone has their own place. In addition, there would be more space for center activities if we had a storage cart for jackets, backpacks, and lunches.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am so lucky to teach and even more lucky that I will be teaching the same class that I had last year! My fabulous kindergarten class will be with me as fabulous first graders.

As part of the routine that we followed in kindergarten, I would like to maintain that consistency with some of the same routines in first grade. When students came to school in the morning, backpacks, lunches, and jackets were hung on a storage cart. When it was time for a story or small group instruction, students came up to sit on the rug and everything flowed smoothly. I had to leave the cart and carpet in the room that I was in and I am now moving to a different class room. I would be thrilled to maintain the flow of movement for my first graders.

I would love the same large, brightly colored rug for my students to sit on and for them to have their own space. When students have their own space, it helps students to make sure that they are not touching anyone either intentionally or unintentionally. The storage cart is something that can sit outside our door under a covered atrium area so it allows for more room and movement in our class room.

Thank you for helping my students maintain our class room routine. Thank you for considering this for my fabulous first graders and making a difference in my students' lives.
