If I Can Hear It with My Ears, I Can See It with My Eyes!

My students need a Lakeshore Language Audio Card Reader and Headset Microphone. The microphone plugs into the Audio Card Reader, so children can listen privately and record their responses.

Step, step, stepping stones, Step along each sound, Sounds together making words, Sounds are all around.

Many of our young children begin school with limited vocabulary, listening and oral language skills. Listening to sounds, putting sounds together, and developing vocabulary is important to the emergent reader. Taking small steps, stepping along the sounds, until the sounds together are making words is work we do in whole group and small groups to develop the skills needed in these areas so children will say one day, " I love reading! It's fun!" These donated materials would give our young children an opportunity to work in an independent and motivating learning center.

The Lakeshore audio card reader is an easy-to-use system that allows children to work independently, and get immediate reinforcement! First, children slide an audio card through our reader and listen to a recorded voice. Then they record their own response, replay it and compare it to the original. As they work, children receive visual reinforcement by seeing the word and, on some cards, a picture, too!
