Can you hear me now? Yes we can. 8 Electronic keyboards and a Piano all playing at one time is what can be heard. It is a cacophony of sound.

I teach Piano class at a borderline Title I school that receives no Title I funding. Very few of our students can afford private Piano lessons. That is why the Piano class is so popular. We have 8 electronic keyboards and an acoustic Piano. Students practice on their own, then have private sessions with me on the Piano. As the students practice, they can hear other students practicing. This can be very distracting for beginning players. We receive no funding from the school or the system. We are actively involved in fundraising but those funds are going towards the purchase of new weighted key, touch sensitive keyboards.

When visitors enter the room they are greeted by 8 electronic keyboards and a Piano all playing at the same time playing different music. This may work for Data on Star Trek Next Generation but it is difficult for young students struggling to learn the Piano. We are asking for the donation of 8 sets of headphones. This would allow the piano students to practice without hearing others playing. This will help them greatly in their concentration. Those who have elected Piano class have dedicated themselves and their time to learning an art. Headphones would greatly aid them in this endeavor.

The class is small but it expands every year. Even small classes are sometimes in need of help. Headphones will be able to be used year after year. Please help my students to pursue learning to play the Piano. My visitors will also thank you. We greatly appreciate your consideration.
