Writing is best taught using student work. It would be a great service to my 6th grade students to be able to share with them, immediately, work that they have created that meets and exceeds the object of my lessons.

Writing is an art form. In order to create great art, we must be exposed to great art as well. Often, written pieces from publishers create a less than authentic lesson - it is irrelevant to the student body and their concerns or is overly polished. As students, attempting to craft their written art, it is incredibly valuable to be able to see the work of their peers and evaluate the success and the shortcomings of the pieces.

The ELMO allows a teacher to project documents for audiences. This would allow me to use authentic written pieces from the class within the original instruction. With no delays, students can be witnesses to peer models which, in turn will help them craft their written work.

Your donation will ensure that this years class, and classes for years to come, will be able to take part in dynamic instruction in writing. Additionally, because of the versatility of this machine, I will be able to project science experiments and use color displays for math lessons.
