My students need 25 binders for storing poems read and written by the students, sheet protectors to store printed poems and Fast Starts for Early Readers to provide a variety of support activities for the students.

Imagine...the lights are dimmed, students are gathered around with cups of hot chocolate and notebooks in hand. A student volunteers to read, his/her peers listen intently, and then erupt in snaps of approval. I teach ESL for students K-5. By using poetry my students will learn letters, phonics, sight words, vocabulary, fluency, sentence writing, and so much more! My students enjoyed the few times we used poetry in the classroom last year and I would like to expand this into a weekly poetry cafe where students will share their own poems each week in a safe environment. In order to implement this idea my students need their own poetry notebook to store poems we read, poems they write, and activities we do. Fast Start Reading will give the students a variety of poems and related activities to work on the whole school year. Your help and donations will allow these students to become fluent English speakers though poetry. As well as instill a love of poems, reading, and learning.
